Educational Program

  >  Educational Program

We deliver educational, play-based learning.

Billy Lids Kindy also supports the Early Years Learning Framework through the following:

We pride ourselves on providing a safe and stimulating environment to ensure successful development of your children at the most fundamental stages of their life.

We recognise that quality educational programs significantly influence children’s development in all areas. We have the opportunity to provide a supportive learning environment and program, gaining inspiration from the children and families. Thoughtfully planned experiences and environments encourage the children to feel a sense of control over their actions, be curious and investigate, and explore their understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them.

We aim to enhance children’s learning and development through the pedagogical practices of educators in a positive learning environment through which the five learning outcomes from Early Years Learning Framework are supported and promoted. Educators will gather and interpret information about children as individuals to inform the preparation of the environment, and implement experiences that are engaging and meaningful, supporting children’s holistic development.

Children’s learning is ongoing and each child will progress towards the outcomes in different and equally meaningful ways. Learning is not always predictable and linear. Educators plan with each child and the outcomes in mind.

The approved learning frameworks included principles, practices and learning outcomes that guide educational leaders and educators in their curriculum decision making, and assist them in planning, delivering and evaluating quality programs in early childhood settings.

Each child’s learning will is based on their interests and strengths and guided by educators.

Educators must work in collaboration with families to provide relevant learning experiences for each child, based on their interests and family experiences.

Every child is equally valued. Their achievements and learning are be celebrated.

Educators work closely with children and families to produce ideas for the curriculum.

Learning Outcomes are linked to the curriculum during and after each child’s learning has occurred.

The curriculum is constructed based on the children’s interests, educators extending children’s interests, spontaneous experiences, and family contribution.

Where appropriate, Billy Lids Kindy liaise with external agencies and support persons to best educate and care for children with additional needs.

Each child’s play and learning experiences are be used to build and develop each child’s individual Learning Stories, Portfolio and Observations demonstrating strengths and development.

The curriculum is evaluated and reflected upon continuously by educators.

Educators observe and record the strengths and learning of each child.

Birth to 15 months

Our nursery program supports and nurtures your baby’s development. Babies can learn a lot through play and interaction between their parents and caregivers is pivotal to developing their communication and understanding of the world. Many things make different babies happy so we try out different ways of interacting and playing with babies such as music and rhythm. Rhymes and songs are wonderful sources of early learning and enjoyment which can encourage your baby’s development.

Wiggles
Wiggles
3 - 4 years

Between the ages of 3 and 4 children develop a real understanding of who they are and what they want. Articulating needs becomes a main focus and the need to learn as much as possible is also enhanced. Our Wiggles discuss what they would like to do each day with their morning group time, and they enjoy these as well as programmed activities that enhance their abilities. They begin to form close friendships, understand concepts of empathy and emotions. Our Wiggles are full of energy and want to learn, which is why we design our programs around their interests and abilities. We ensure that your child is confident and ready to head toward their next big challenge – School.
While our juniors program is still child initiated play, it is a little more structured and focuses on:
• Letter and word recognition
• Sentence structure through play
• Puppets and felt boards
• Cooking following diagram recipes
